I am rebuilding a deck/porch. I am trying to figure out how many carriage or machine bolts to use for the ledger. The ledger will be attached to a concrete block wall. The bolts will go completely through the wall and will have another board on the inside as well. So the concrete block will be sandwiched between the boards.
Would one bolt per block, so 16 on center, alternating between top and bottom be enough? This is a 2x10 ledger with 2x10 12 foot joists. Not sure it will matter, but I will also be using construction adhesive and tapcons to hold the ledger in place while drilling for the bolts. The previous ledger was 2x8 with 5 bolts over a 24 foot span. No board on the inside, just washers. The bolts were actually bent when I took them out.
