Railing into roof shingles????

Posted by stevekerr999 (My Page) on

I am using Radiance rail from Timbertech on my roof deck, (timbertech.com). I have a section of rail that goes between a post and the shingled roof slope.

Any ideas on how to secure the top and bottom rail to the roof and how to fill the triangular section with balusters?

Couldn't you use a piece of the 5/4 x 6 TimberTech, ripped to size and first fasten that piece directly onto the roof to act as a mounting plate for that section of rail?
This technique allows you the ability to easily scribe the bottom of the baluster for the correct angle. The same angle will usually be repeated over and over. The tops are obviously a straight cut.
