 o
craftsman column

We are having a new house built and we would like craftsman tapered columns for our front porch. We would like the base of the column to have a stone veneer. What are the typical dimensions of these bases? We will need a railing on the porch. I was figuring that the base should be 18" by 18' and 42" high. Does this sound right?

According to the plans, our bases which are scheduled to be built this week should be 24" x 24" including the stone veneer. They will be 42" high (measured from the porch's finished floor height).

The "wooden" (fiberglass) columns that sit on top of them will be 16" x 16".

Hope this helps.

Creek side and weezee,
I'm building a craftsman style home as well and wondered if you could share any pictures with me of your homes? We are setting trusses today so are getting to the point of needing to pick the stone and figure out columns etc. I'd love to see your homes!
