What are the materials usually used for compacted sub-base for asphalt?

If locally available, is Recycled Asphalt Products suitable to use for compacted sub-base underneath asphalt? I am considering of using R.A.P. as much as possible in replace of regular gravel or any aggregates for compact sub base in driveway, parking spaces, and pathway, for it is a recycled product, not getting mushy or sandy when wet, and the cheapest of all (cheapest???).

However, if there is any obvious con or disadvantage of using RAP or not suitable for compact sub base, then please advise me other materials.
