Read this and laugh... (Re-using joists and boards)

Talk about a mess! Try not to laugh too hard...

We're taking all our deck boards off to correct a stupid installation error that's causing moisture problems against the house. The joists will be left intact. Should we/can we put something on the joists to seal all those nail holes before we put the deck boards back on? Like maybe that liquid rubber in a spray-paint can or something? And then there's all those nail holes in the deck boards...

We really can't afford to repace all the components (joists and boards), and I don't think we can use the same nail holes either due to trimming and readjusting. We just want to pull off the boards, correct the problem (no flashing), and put it all back together. Thoughts?
