semisolid stain on deck?

Semi transparent stains have shorter lives than solid stains, but can be recoated with little prep. Solid stains, while they have a longer life require stripping before recoating (or sanding which is still a lot of work)

There are now semi-solid stains being sold. A sales person I spoke with suggested they can be recoated as they wear out similar to semitranspatent. Anyone have any opinions or information on this?

I don't know who told you this lie, My deck built in 2002 and has been restained in 06, and 11 was never stripped. A solid color stain, White by Sherwin Williams was used all 3 times. 1200 sq ft 5 levels w/ a gazebo, pics will follow if you don't believe me.
