New Ipe deck questions

Posted by Corbs1019 (My Page) on

Like many I have gotten a lot of info from this site.
We just had a new Ipe deck with Cedar lattice built.
I should have read some more before I put a stain on the deck, I had someone tell me to use Messmers UV Plus Natural and just use the deck cleaner (Part A), I didn't use Part B (brightner)

2) They used stainless steel

Here are my questions

1) Did I screw it up? I know I will have to redo after the winter but what should I do then?

2) They used stainless steel screws and but no "plugs" do I need to do something more?

Thanks in advance for any help

Nothing wrong with that.

RE: New Ipe deck questions

Deck looks amazing!

-Using Stainless Steal Screws is common practice and highly recommended!

-Plugs are typically used to "hide" the screw.. Your fine, no need because it looks great from what I can see.

-Treating the deck after installation is also recommended and will help prevent surface cracks on the face of the wood. Come spring you will most likely have to clean the deck using the deck cleaner to get off any dirt / pollen / sun fading then re-apply Messmers UV.
