Best film to screen the porch?

Hello,

We want to screen 3 sides of our porch for winter. We thought about installing temporary frames with thick clear film or something similar. Light transmission is important: more is always better!

We don't want anything permanent (like glass), and we don't need it to be perfect fit. Just want to protect our porch from snow. We live in Canada, so lots of snow and pretty cold :-(
I did a bit of research and it looks like 6-mil clear greenhouse film might be fine. I'm sure some of you already did it. What material did you use? How does it withstand the snow/wind? How many years can you have before replacing?
What's better for freezing temperatures - vinyl, polyethylene or something else?

We also considered using corrugated clear panels from HomeDepot, but hope to find something cheaper.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
