| My garage door needs to be re-stained after about 20 (!) years. It currently has a redwood color stain--don't remember brand, probably Thompson's. The surface is peeling & blistered in spots...I plan to powerwash & sand surfaces, but beyond that, I'm not sure what's the best product to use. I'm looking into Cabot solid stain (I want to go blue). It seems to have a good balance of quality and price. Would the acrylic be alright to use? Any other recommendations? The garage has a south-east exposure so gets lots of sun. Please don't tell me it has to be applied with a paint sprayer ...I'm tackling this myself (stay-at-home-mom w/4 yr old) so hopefully there's not a ton of stuff to do besides washing/sanding & possibly a prep coat??? |
