screened porch attached to asbestos siding

Hello,

I am new here and signed up to get some help with some questions I've cone across. I am about to begin building my first porch and I don't want to screw up before I even begin. I have a home with asbestos siding. I am not sure if this siding will make it incredibly difficult to attach ledgers (one for the deck, one for the roof) to the house. Anyone have a feel for this? Would I need to remove some siding before attaching the ledgers? Would lag bolts be sufficient to attach my ledgers? My other option is to simply make is a free standing screened porch that is built directly beside my house and in effect connects to the house.
