What Plan/Product To Use On A Fir Front Porch

Would appreciate any helpful info regarding what to use on my fir wood front porch. It unfortunately has not been weatherproofed in a long time and it is beginning to show signs of UV exposure to sections of it. I live in the northeast so it gets the hot sun and snow in the winter. My plan is to sand with 80 grit, then apply a semi transparent oil stain. I read somewhere on the internet where semitransparent oil stain is preferable and lasts 3-8 yrs. I have looked at Pittsburgh PPG Sun Proof semi transparent oil stain and the new Benjamin Moore Arborcoat wood stain. Does anyone have any info re which would be a better product and would last longer? Are there any other products that are better than these I should consider? Is there anything else I need to do to prep the porch floor before staining? Thanks
