Under Deck - Why not aluminum/steel

Right now we are planning to add a 16 x 14 deck to our house.

We've gotten quotes and are currently weighing between a Pressure Treated / Cedar / Timber Tech Deck. I knew there was a price difference but I was surprised by the Timber Tech being 2.5x the Pressure Treated. The deck is north facing and elevated above a steep slope. Wife is leaning toward Timber Tech for maintenance and I am leaning toward Pressure treated due to cost savings. My biggest problem is why put down a composite deck that costs 2x more in materials and costs more in labor if you have to take it up in 20 years as the PT underneath needs to be repaired.

Why is underside both the verticals and the verticals not in aluminum (not strong enough?) or steel? If I am going to pay more for a nice long lasting deck why shouldn't I consider what is underneath. What am I missing?
