| I am a newbie and looking to build a deck on my home. Been researching material for a year and am disappointed with the plastic decking. It is very hot and it all fades, scuffs ,scratches and costs alot.
I am just curious if western red cedar is a good choice for decking for the east coast. I understand it requires some maintenance. Can you buy it pre stained? and does it cost more or less than timber tech xlm? Thank You |

| I used to build cedar decks, using 5/4x6. It's easy to work, looks and smells good, and is inexpensive. The price here in NYC keeps dropping. The downside is that you need to take care of it, and it's fairly soft. I miss making cedar decks. steve |
