I am a newbie and looking to build a deck on my home. Been researching material for a year and am disappointed with the plastic decking. It is very hot and it all fades,scuffs ,scratches and costs alot.

I am just curious if western red cedar is a good choice for decking for the east coast.

I understand it requires some maintenance. Can you buy it pre stained? and does it cost more or less than timber tech xlm?
