Second coat on right away,twp calls it wet on wet, start building coats as soon as possible as weather aggres. Use the spirt of a sound mind building coats. The more coats the longer it takes twp to set up it acctualy burns into itself. J.

John....something I'm not getting about this wet on wet stuff. I am thinking of using TWP (Honey) on Garapa. Here's what I don't get......
If I apply second coat right away, won't it still be sticky and how would I walk on it without making tracks when I am applying the second coat. I've never worked with the stuff so I don't get wet on wet just yet. I'm sure you'll set me straight.

Yea....well that's what I figured, but the whole, "wet on wet" phrase kind of confused me. When someone says to apply wet on wet,to me that means , don't wait until the first coat dries. I'll learn someday, I guess. Thanks anyways for clarifying that.

Don't feel bad, run53, that was exactly my question. I used TWP116 on my garapa deck last fall, and it now needs another coat. If I would have known I could have put another one right on top of the first, I would have.

Any good advice on the normal time to dry enough for the second coat?

Keep in mind,as I have said before, the twp Folks do not agree at all far as the way I have been using their product for over 10 years.

Use common sense. When the wood is dry enough to put on another coat put it on.

Heed John's advice regarding the wet on wet coats. We ended up doing 3 wet on wet coats (long story on why we had to do a 3rd), and the finish lasted for one and a half years here in Massachusetts. We've been really pleased with TWP on Ipe.
