Pool around above ground deck...can we do this?

We're fairly handy people but have never tried to build a deck before. We got a couple quotes to build a deck around 1/4 of our pool (around 250 sq ft) and quotes were very high (~15K) for composite decking and railing (Timbertech Terrain). We're thinking of doing this ourselves, but are concerned this project may be too difficult? We will be building it over a small reatining wall that we built due to slope of our land. Anyone have advice? We are in the Northeast and need full (48" I think) cement footings. Deck would go closest to patio area

this is so funny, I saw this thread that posted on the most recent posts and I just wrote a scathing reply to nadine33 for writing such a rude response: "UGGG, Deck around above ground pool", thinking she was dissing the idea. Then I realized it was you correcting the title of the thread!

Anyway, I have no advice, but don't know if you've seen this on pinterest - might have some ideas for you.

Honestly it is doable. I just did one based on reading the code from my town and youtube!! Its going to be alot of work and it will take some time but its definitely doable and alot cheaper to do it yourself. Just make sure you contact the town who will inspect your footings before and after you pour the concrete then after that its just connecting wood together and cutting and ensuing you have the correct galvanized ties and alike. Good luck though - if i can do it you can too!
