Mitered edges and staggered boards for Ipe fence?

I am building a horizontal Ipe fence that looks like the fence in the picture. My fence builders said I should go with mitered edges--is that right? They also asked if I want the boards staggered, or lined up--which should I go with? The posts are 6' apart, and the boards are each 12' long. Thanks in advance!
