Deck first waterproofing / staining

I live just south of ATL. Just bought a house with a deck that is at the year old stage. It appears to be pressure treated pine. I want to treat the deck for water and maybe brighten it a little. I checked online for the TWP 1500 but it would cost about $800.00 for 20 gallons of that.

20 gallons!!!! How big is your deck? It took me like 3 gallons to stain almost 700 sf. Then >2 gallons for the 2nd coat.

Thompson's Waterseal will probably give you good advice. They do have a facebook page, but I bet you could call them.

We have an unsealed pressure treated wood deck, and I get splinters walking on it bare footed. The pool deck is the same, but we had that one sanded and painted, and it's much better.

Thompsons Water Seal is crap, you will be refinishing every 6 months at the least.
