I've been trying to look around for ideas on what to do for railings for our deck. We plan to go with all wood. I've looked at the premade panels, but I'm thinking we'll make them ourselves, hubby has the skills, I have the will to do so, and I think it would be cheaper to do it that way rather than buying premade. But I am trying to look for ideas. We aren't looking for anything fancy.

Also, those of you who made your own, did you buy the spindles, or cut them? I would imagine cutting them yourself may leave them rough/splinters...

I went to see a friends deck today...she has a very nice one, but NO posts. It's all railing. Even in the corners. Just two railings connected to eachother, not by a post. Wouldn't you want posts for support?
