We inherited a 10 year old, 300sf deck with the house we bought last year. It's badly in need of maintainence. It looks like it was stained at one time. Now its dried out, the stain is mostly gone. Our 2 year old son is getting splinters. Today I power washed it, and I was wondering what to seal it with. I bought 3 gallons of ACE deck sealer (don't want to stain it,) but was wondering if I was on the right track. Is there something I could brush on that would seal up the splinters? My other option is to put some outdoor carpet on it. My main goal is to eliminate the splinters without going to extremes like power sanding, etc. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks in advance.
