We put in a new deck in April of 2010. Stained it a solid color in September 2010. We had some patio work done and a couple of critters walked across it leaving white prints. Nothing (water, soap, brushes time) has helped remove them. I am also interested in figuring out how to get rid of the gray spots. We used a mid to dark brown stain and are just sick about the way it looks. Would love some advice.

that's too bad tagatoo, sounds like the marks on my deck aren't going anywhere soon either.

in your case I think a new coat of stain would make those marks disappear. just be careful if the old stain is still holding up - the new coat will take a lot longer to dry and in that time there's the added chance that something will walk across your deck.

it's either that or resurface the deck with a chemical wood stripper, and then ad fresh coat. but that is a somewhat difficult process, especially with a large deck.

Same experience at our house I think perhaps darker stains are to be avoided. Even another coat did not help.... I like it but it just shows dirt so badly

get a swiffer - i have the same exact issue and this is the only method that works for me.
