Question about a raised deck

I was hoping to get info on waterproofing a raised deck.

John Mon says the best way is to use rolled roofing, but what do you frame on top of that to put the finish decking on.

How much height is the completed decking with the plywood, rolled roofing and finish decking combined.

Do I need to frame the deck joist lower to accomadate for the extra material and still have a normal step from the house.

Any pics would be a big help

I did not say " rolled roofing "

I said modified torch down or tpo roof.

Its all good Amy.

You need a total plan for a project like that.

Most of the time there is a Door that will open to the deck. In some areas a Contractor will frame a step right out of this door because they feel the snow will pile up and cause a leak.I always frame the raised deck even with the door.

What ever roofing / flashing you and your builder decide on,or what ever leval. Attention to detail is everything. Flashing or roofing must be installed under the threshold as well as all other needed flashing.
Reread, Again, this is important.

Torchdown or TPO roof,stringers lay in the direction of the flow ( not fastened thru the roof Reread this as well ) decking screwed to the stringers Not Into The Roof !!!!
Done right your looking at a Hmmmmmm80/90 year project leak free.
