John, if not caulk, how do you propose I stop the water from seeping in when it rains?

No amount of caulk or adhesive will help stop a leak under a door threshold.

Decking is installed under the treashold. If yours is installed incorectley flashing is needed placed under the threashold. J.

John, I understand what you're saying. However, due to accessibility issues, the deck had to be installed at inside floor level. We didn't anticipate this problem as the deck was to be roofed over and screened with a knee wall. Unfortunately, a medical (read financial) emergency got in the way. It will be a year at minimum before the roof and walls can happen.

The leaking only happens when we get a good gullywasher. We've had a few of them this year. What I need is a temporary solution before my inside hardwood floor is ruined. Any ideas?

This is why you should never install a deck at the same level as the floor, always lower the decking 3/4" or so. Up north more because of snow building up at the threshold.

At this point you probably need to take out the door, install door pan/flashing, re-install door.

I've seen entire living room hardwood floors ruined because decking was flush with flooring.

Al is right, if its going to be a year or not even then, Take the door out,install flashing, reinstall the door.

This should be done with or without the roof. J.
