Spar varnish/Laquer have no uv protection and will defentley peal lift exposed to the sun. Wax/Oil will melt no uv protection either.

A build coat finish using twp 100 series will come up a simi gloss but if you land a frosted LoneStar mug on it your going to get water marks Ka Daaa!!! use a coster Dude.

Thank John! that is what i ended up doing... finished sanded the top, and used TWP 100, you wet on wet with a lambs wool wipe down. ipe is sooooo good looking..

I will get it mounted on the base tomorrow and it should be ready for cocktails this weekend. coasters or course :) which will probable only occur the first weekend, and then just plan on a yearly refinish. lol

I am pretty sure you know this,twp requires uv to set up.

It is intersting how that finish glues to the wood and itself. J.

Thanks John, I did not know about the UV to set up! I always used it on decking before so it was not an issue. it was still sticky tonight and I was wondering why. I moved it outdoors tonight so it should be be set tomorrow.

Once I get the base mounted I will post a picture.

It might take a little longer than that twp is funny that way put down in the shade to start out with.

I learned about the uv doing fancy spancy curved benches in my shop the damm things took about a week to really set up. I have always wanted to try a uv lamp but I just put them out side the shop protected by the laser guided 12 guage automatic. J.
