Expand patio exposed aggregate with stamped concrete?

I have a 12 x 12 gray stamped concrete patio that has my house bordering 3 of the 4 sides. The one side that goes to my backyard is rounded. I am expanding the patio - it will be a few inches lower than my existing patio. It will almost be like a 3ft wide step extending around my existing patio and then extending to one side of my yard - about 16ft.

I was initially thinking of doing the same gray stamped concrete for the expansion, but the concrete contractor recommended using brownish exposed aggregate. He said that would give nice contrast and look really nice. My house is brown so it would tie to that.

I'm not sure if the gray and brown would go. Does anyone have any thoughts on that or has anyone seen that combination anywhere?

If it were two separate patios connected by a pathway, I'd say it might work, but I just can't picture brown aggregate butting up to stamped gray concrete. I'd be afraid it'll look like an afterthought, or add-on, but it all depends on design.
Make sure the concrete guy is experienced in stamped patios before signing a contract.

Thank you for the post. I agree. I think I'll do the same stamped concrete I have. I considered asking about gray exposed aggregate, but I think sticking with the same style is probably best.
