I have a rambler with daylight basement & deck about 9 1/2 feet off the ground that wraps around the majority of my house. It has a decent foundation with boards on 16" centers. I have had a couple quotes to replace the boards with a composite deck. Since I have about 1300 linear feet my quotes are about 15K. A neighbor suggested that I have a concrete deck installed. They paid about $8 sq ft. for theirs. Does anyone have any concerns about that much concrete that far off the ground? I do. I don't know much about decking but I am wondering if this is just too good to be true. To have my expenses go from 15K to closer to 5K would be preferred. Please share thoughts.
