drainage along garden wall

My pool contractor has sloped my concrete paver pool deck so that water drains toward a concrete block wall and then against the wall for about 20 feet to a drain. He says the water will not damage the wall. The wall would get wet in any case during rain storms, so would an extra half in of water running along the base be a problem?

Does not seem correct to me at all that you would direct water to any sort of structure even a garden wall.

He should install a continuous drain between the patio and the block wall so water will drain away properly. He is cutting corners to save money but drainage is not something you want to shortchange as it gets real expensive to fix when it does not work.
