BBQ Island

I am in the process of designing a bbq island. I am going to use steel studs and frame it out then use cement board to finish it off. Is it okay to place it on a paver patio or do I need to pull out the pavers and put in a cement slab? I am planning on setting the steel frame on some trex to prevent water from corroding the steel when does rain or get wet on the patio...

Pavers are designed to be a flexible, moveable system. Set your island on pavers and you'll most likely crack your countertop and whatever you put over the concrete board. Pour a min. 4" slab, 6 is better.
