Raised concrete deck/patio

So my husband refuses to put up a traditional deck because of the maintenance with real wood and he isnt satisfied with the composite either. He wants to build a concrete deck/patio, which will be raised off the ground 2 1/2 feet or so in order to be flush with the bottom of our patio door. I dont have a problem with this, but I'd like to see some ideas and cant seem to find any photos of this done. Anyone have one? What do the edges look like, on the sides and down to the ground? HELP!!

You can have the concrete look as beautiful or dull as your pocketbook will afford. They (contractors) can use molds to make the sides look like bricks, stone, etc, and stain it or better yey, pour it with the color mixed into the concrete. That way, if it chips or gets scratched, there will be no lighter color underneath.
