Tigerwood Deck, general questions.

Getting ready to rebuild my above-grade elevated deck, 370 SF + stairs over existing 600SF concrete patio. Have decided on using 1x6 Tigerwood from local supplier (Crosscut Hardwoods in Portland OR), $3.06 LF, kiln dried and pre-finished with Penefin, which seems to be a pretty fair price after shopping around a bit.

Current orientation is decking is perpendicular to the 16" spaced joists, and we'd like to change to angled orientation.

-I know 16" is max span (per Crosscut) for 1x6, so if I angle the decking I will need the joists closer. Recommend doubling up joists (add to existing, making spacing 8"), or re-doing all the joists to 12" spacing (assuming 45-degree angle)? (I plan on keeping existing support structure as it is in good condition and doesn't appear to be all that old.)

-Any other tips for working with Tigerwood?

thanks
