Alternative to bluestone?

I love the look of bluestone patios but I'm wondering if there is anything that looks like bluestone but isn't as expensive? I also have two kids and a dog so it needs to be durable. Any recommendations?

people often refer to bluestone and PA variegated interchangeably. Depending on your location, one may be less costly than the other.

You don't say where you are, but on most of the east coast of the US your least expensive stone sawcut into squares and rectangles is going to be PA variegated or bluestone (again, depends where you are)
