Cedartone AC2 deck boards

I have a 35yr old deck. About 75% of the AC2 wood is still good, but the other 25% has significant splitting going on. I'm debating on whether I should stain the deck this year or rip out the old deck boards and replace them. I'm thinking about cedartone AC2 from the local Menard, but I'm not very familiar with it. How does the color last before it requires staining again? Other than color, I assume it's the same as regular AC2, correct? Thanks for the help.
