Additional Reinforcement for Azek or CertainTeed EverNew

I'm down to two products (I think). Azek and CertainTeed Evernew LT. Ruled out TimberTeck XLM. Deck is about 435 sq ft on a 2nd floor. House in is MN and faces to the north. Since my support decking is still in good shape the plan is to just rip out the old Cedar rail and deck floor and put on one of these two. I am adding one post for a stair rail that no longer meets code and will replace one cedar post that has a lot of cracks. It has 16 in spaces between supports. I've read here and elsewhere that I need 12. One of the contractors suggested I could put additional supports next to the existing supports which would add less cost but give more support than the 16" span would. Would this help prevent the sag that Azek is prone to?
Azek is monoextruded and CertainTeed is coated and seems to scratch more easily.
