I have been lurking in this forum for months, and I have learned a lot. I have a new 384 sq.ft. ipe deck, built by a wonderful deck builder about 4 months ago. I have decided on using Messmers to seal mainly because of what seems to be the ease of application and re-application (even though it does not seem to be popular with folks on this forum). I just finished the prep-wash and will apply the sealer in a couple of days. My question is - would it be possible to apply the sealer using cloth, such as microfiber or t-shirt, instead of brush/roller. This is something that came up in a discussion with a friend. I was describing what I will be doing - apply the sealer, wait 20 minutes, then wipe off excess. He was wondering (and now I'm wondering, too), if you use cloth, you could just wipe down the exact amount and not have to wipe-off anything later. Does this make sense? I'm sorry if this has been discussed before - I have not had time to read ALL messages.
