| I have a (corner) direct vent gas fireplace, with the vent on the outside back of my townhouse about 12 inches from the corner of the house.
Putting in deck, want the outermost stair railing to fit in this 12" space between the corner edge of house and fireplace vent. On phone county inspectors say "go by fireplace mfg clearances." The manual has outside vent clearances for above and below, but *not to the sides of the vent*. Wood railing would be about 4" from side of vent. Do you think this would pass inspection?? Vent has openings at top and bottom, not sides. Any thoughts would be appreciated. (Can't move fireplace vent, need to work deck railing around it.) Thank you.

| If you cant get a straight anwser from the vendor, the permit store dosent know and your still worried install a heat sink around the vent for convection currents. This can be done with glav snap together pipe a little bigger than the gas vent placed around it, above and below the deck area. J. |
