Slippery stamped concrete?

We purchased a house with stamped concrete around the pool and it was never sealed. We just poured stamped concrete in the front walkway and it has not yet been sealed either. I was planning to get both done this spring but have had several people strongly advise against it because it is too slippery. Has anyone had this problem? We just paid the extra money for stamped concrete because we like the look, it would seem a shame to leave it plain. We do have two kids and their safety is a top priority. Any advice?

I've heard Concrete Sealer X-1 by Stone Technologies Inc. www.stonetechnologiesinc.com
truly goes below the surface so it's not slick at all. Has anyone else heard about this product? I need to know for exterior uncovered old concrete patios. Thank you!

That is definitely the issue. It has to sink in. One of the great advantages of concrete steps over wood is they are not slippery. Dh used concrete paint on some new steps the city put in to the street when they took away the sidewalk. They are so slippery its scarey. Fortunately its peeling off so it looks like I can easily remove the stuff and do it right (what ever that is).
Does any one know? I hear of people painting with regular acrylic paint and it soaks in, but I don't know if that lasts.
