I have an L shaped/ wrap around deck with a closed in sunroom on the small side. The sunporch was built on top of the decking. Now the exposed decking needs to be replaced plus I would like to add about 6 feet to the outside- right side of picture right where the brick wall turns on the left side I will take it to the the right 6 foot. . The deck has posts on the outer edge- no beam and a ledger that wraps around the house. Decking, as you see in pic goes parallel to the house but then turns and goes under the sunporch. To my my questions... How to I change the joist so my decking can go parallel the full length instead of turning? Also, I have noticed the sunroom wall ends right between two joist. I assume this joist here should have been doubled and directly under the wall? I bought the house this way and it passed the home inspection but it just seems it could have been done better.
