We have a very large deck but it is on 3 different levels so there is no room for a big table when hosting parties.

The obvious solution is to just rebuild the deck to one level. Not so simple. Basement windows and other issues are involved.

Another issue, We have a pool and when we have people over everyone is on the pool/ground level with the kids. Or on the swing set or playing basketball or riding bikes. All on ground level. The only reason people come on the deck is to eat. (there is no room for everyone to sit comfortably) But we still have to watch all the kids from up top. It just isn't very convenient to be on all different levels.

My question - should we just eliminate the deck and make a large ground level patio with possibilty for outdoor kitchen in the future? This would require 6 or 7 steps at least from the kitchen back door entrance. Is this a smart move or not?

There is also another back entrance to the house that will require steps. So there would be 2 staircases leading to the backyard.
