| We're replanking a 10 ft wide x 48 ft long deck. 12-ft boards (2x6 redwood) would be roughly 30 degrees off perpendicular; an attractive pattern. It means two angle cuts per board vs. one straight cut, but that doesn't seem like major labor add-on. We're concerned that a 90-degree pattern will give the impression that the deck is narrow.
A related question is whether we should use a "picture-frame" border or just let the board ends hang out over the skirt. Any maintenance issues with exposed ends? |
