Floor Joist Size (above code) recommendation - Ipe Deck

Hello,

The deck is 34ft x 14ft. Joists run in the 14 ft direction. They are attached to a ledger board at the house and there is a single built up beam at 12 ft (2 ft cantilever). Based on the joist span chart and confirmed by my inspector / building dept., a 2x10 (Southern Pine) PT joist will suffice. I've been surfing around a lot for this project (I'm the homeowner and not a contractor) and I've read where several people recommend a 2x12 for this joist span. My goal (besides meeting code) is to build a deck that feels solid even with a gathering of people (10-12 people). Based on all of your practical experience, do you recommend 2x10 joists or 2x12 joists for a 12 ft span + 2 ft cantilever (14 ft joist)? The decking is 4/4 Ipe and there aren't any additional large features (Pergola, Hot Tub, etc.)... it's a basic deck.

Thanks again for everyone's help answering all my questions,

Chris
