How to reduce rainwater splash off deck onto patio doors

We are designing a deck to come off our patio doors. We prefer to have the deck at the same level as the door and not one step down from the threshold.
I am concerned about the rainwater splashing on to the windows. Would it be possible to incorporate some type of grate next to the door to eliminate the splash.

It can be avoided by building an overhang or some type of awning. I doubt adding a grate would make a difference since it will still cause splashing. Do you have gutters?
