Porch column swap

Happy Spring to everyone!

Need advice on DIY framing of our porch for windows. My dream is to turn our screened porch into more weather savvy sunroom.

Currently our 10'X20' porch has four 6' tall 10" round columns resting on knee high cement walls. They are 100 years old and need to be replaced. Correct me if I am wrong: we need to replace them with square/smooth columns in order to frame it out for windows right? Thinking it would be difficult to have the windows flush against something round!

We understand we need a permit, & that the roof has to be supported by jacks, etc. prior to replacing the columns...Just want to ensure that we buy the right style of columns inorder to complete our sunroom project.

windows would not be installed directly against a column they would be installed in a framed wall.
