The major thing that I hate about our ranch style home is no front porch. After asking questions about garden beds, someone suggested I take a look at "Louisiana Houses of A. Hays Town" which is an architects book. I am waiting for the library to have the book returned but I did find an inspiration picture in the excerpt. It is exactly what I envisioned with this house. Now I just need to know how to get the actual look. Would you take a look at my house and the inspiration picture and let me know if it is possible? If so, how do I start? We are great diyers and would love to do any of the work ourselves that we could but from the looks of it, it may be too complicated. I haven't shown dh yet. Do any of you know a basic estimate of adding a porch like this? Our house's length is 54'. We live in Louisiana if that helps. Here is a link to our pictures...
