Re-Staining Deck

Our deck needs restaining this year. Do I have to strip the old stain off before I restain??? In most areas of the deck, it just looks faded and dull but there are some areas that have the appearance of stain cracking. Thanks in advance for your help

What kind of stain do you have??
Is it a solid or S/T?
Latex or Oil??
How old is the deck??
Age of existing stain??
Height of deck off ground?

Hi, Faron---Happy to see your response. My deck stain is a solid latex. The deck and stain is 5 years old and the deck is 24 inches off the ground. What do you think?? Thanks
