Thompsons water seal

I am in the process of cleaning my deck. Nothing has been applied to the deck during it's life except Thompson clear water seal over a year ago. Do I need to use a stripper for the TWP or will cleaning it be enough before staining?

I just want to be sure when i stain it the TWP does not get in the way.
