I apologize, I have no useful photos for you - but a friend of mine has a house with a lot of black wood used for siding - it looks beautiful, but I believe it was done with a burning technique - I feel like paint may look a bit plastic unless you choose a high pigment brand. Maybe some kind of milk paint would work well, or a stain.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what how black would look, and if it would cover well on the wood deck that's there.
Below is a picture of the roof (haven't taken one after completion yet) and I'm taking down the left side of the deck right between the 3rd and 4th window (from left to right) where the beam is on the wall.

First off, I would never paint a exposed deck. You are just asking for problems down the road.

2nd, I would think that a black deck would be very hot.

3rd, I would think that a black deck would show a lot of dust and grime.
