Can my kids walk on the lids for the pool cover?

I am installing an in-ground pool with an integrated cover. My pool contractor wants to charge me an additional $3800 to install extra-strength cover lids that my kids can walk on. Currently, we plan to install coping over the "standard" strength lids. I don't expect the lids to get a lot of foot traffic, but I know my kids will want to jump/dive into the deep end by standing on the lids. My question is: are the extra strength lids really necessary? I don't mind a little wobble in the standard lids.

I've installed probably 10 automatic pool covers, all being the Coverpools brand, and never had the option to go "extra strength." Maybe their standard one is already much more sturdy than your brand? Not too sure, but we put 20-40lbs of coping material in the cover trays and even 200lb+ men can stand on ours.

I'll find out the brand of the pool cover. We're putting 3" poured in place concrete coping on top of the lids. Thanks for your input.
