jandy rs mode problem

Well it looks like my service guy is on the disabled list and I have some new responsibilities.

Owners Jandy rs controller 2004 is putting the pool in spa mode shortly after it comes on. She has checked the programing and found nothing. You can turn spa mode off from the 4 function spaside control but it comes back about a minute later. Seems like we had a similar problem with a blower coming on and we ended up replacing the spaside remote.

Any suggestions?

Unplug the spaside, and see if it still happens.

It's not unheard of to have the spaside go out right after being replaced.

Also, is it possibly going into freeze mode?

I can assure you that it's the spaside remote.
Turn off the low voltage breaker for the computers transformer, open the power center, unplug the six pin connector at the top of the circuit board, and then power back up the breaker.
How long ago did you replace the 4 function remote?

See ya,
Kelly

Thanks for the confirmation. This site is better than tech support and even open on Sunday.

This is the original 4 function switch. The other job with the blower problem was built the same year and we replaced the spa switch in the spring. Sounds like the switch, Thanks

On a Sunday, or when your tech is out, you can talk the customer through locking out the spa remote using the indoor controller. You dont need to physically disable it. That way you dont have to go to the site until Monday.

All went well. Thanks.

The switch was easy, but changing pump motors makes you humble and is bad for your vocabulary. When your down on your knees with your head against the wall, you really appreciate the service guy!

For a service guy replacing a pump motor under 7.5 hp is like taking a break =)..

So it was the switch then?

Scott, the two-speed toggle switch was okay. I ended up replacing both pump motors with single speed motors.

Racket, its been a couple of decades but I have repaired my share of big pumps in pits and don't miss the experience.
