Basic Clock - 24/7 pump run time? Need to change....

| My PB installed a very basic/generic time clock to operate 27/7. They said all their pools are designed to run 24/7 regardless of clock type!) I can only turn the pump completely off with a switch or adjust high/low speed run times on the clock itself.
I guess I should be happy that I’ve had no sanitation problems between the 320 and Ozone. However, I still think running the pump 24/7 is way too much. Especially in this cooler weather. Not to mention $$$ on electric bill!
My ignorance will show, but I beleive the clock/pump is directly wired to be on all the time. Can this be changed easily? Planning to upgrade clocks, but not anytime soon.
Thanks

| If it's and Intermatic with a yellow dial, it should have come with timer pins. If you don't have them, Home Depot and Lowes carry them for about a buck or so. Scott |

| That's the clock. The timer pins only work in changing the setting to from low to high speed not to turn off. The booster turns on as well at the high setting. They wired it to run low the rest of the time. There is no other way to turn it off other than flipping a switch on the panel....... ohh well may have to switch out sooner than later as the Jandy 2hp is power hungry! |

| quote" The timer pins only work in changing the setting to from low to high speed not to turn off. "quote Without a digital controller you can't control anything other than off and on at your selected speeds than you currently have. When I wire a pool with a 2 speed pump and no computer I use 2 time clocks, one is a 106 2 speed control to determine the total hours of high/low speed circulation and the other, a 104, determines the time within it's window of high and low speed. You can purchase a 104 for a song and dictate the window of how long the 106 operates low and high speed. Without a digital controller your stuck with 24/7 operation. This is a simple and affordable upgrade, you should ask your builder to comp it for you, I can't believe he didn't do it this way to begin with. Just my .02 See ya, Kelly |
