Help with pool steps design in lap pool -urgent!

They are building the steps on a pool remodel. Do they look too long? They are 12 ft long. It is a lap pool - 60 ft long x 14 ft wide. I think the steps will leave around 8-9 ft. for lap swimming. I also use the pool to hang out with friends and like to sit on the steps after cycling in the summer. Thank you!

They look perfect to me. IIRC, you need a minimum of 7.5 ft. for lane width, so you're good there. The actual length of your steps is a matter of preference. I think if you have more than 4 or 5 people hanging out there, 12' is perfect.

I just wanted to post a follow-up with pics of the steps. I think they are okay. The top step was shorter than I expected. I dont really like the bench, but everyone says I need a bench.
